QUALITY FROM THE GROUND UP WITH SEAN

who is sean?

Say hello to Production and Quality Control Manager, Sean Borges, who is based in Santa Maria, California!  Sean has been involved in the agriculture industry since he was 19, and is a key component to our internal and external communications.  If we have questions, he has answers.

Sean grew up in agriculture in the San Joaquin Valley, where his grandparents and great grandparents had small working farms in Patterson and Newman, California – they raised dry beans, hay, walnuts, steers, and milking cows.  Because most of his family worked in agriculture, it was easy to step into the industry inspecting vegetables to start his career.  Sean traveled to and from various locations following the growing season, and did this for a few years before joining us at Pacific.

What does Sean do at Pacific?

After wrapping up the desert season of 1994, Dave Johnson and Tom Russell hired Sean to be our “Bird Dog” (Quality Control).  At the time, he was responsible for selecting and overseeing product packed in our labels from several shippers on the Central Coast.  Sean also inspected any outside purchases made by our Salinas and Phoenix sales offices to ensure the quality met our high standards.  Since joining the Pacific Team, Sean has “always worked in quality control and harvest management,” as well as, “helped start several new programs.”  Today, with his roots planted in Santa Maria, we rely on him as our liaison between the field, cooler, and sales team.  He leads our QC team, problem solves, and continues learning to better the development of our programs.  Sean said it best when he said, “We have always worn a bunch of hats here – it is farming…”

Why is sean so special to us?

Working outdoors and working closely with our growers and various team members is something Sean looks forward to each day.  He loves passing on knowledge and experiences to those around him to further their own growth in the agriculture industry.  He “has had the pleasure of working with many talented individuals over the years,” and we are grateful to say the same about him.
